Overview
The Mocha Storm Ocellaris Clownfish thrives best in an aquarium of at least 20 gallons or larger, with plenty of live rock. It may form symbiotic relationships with the following anemone species: Carpet (Stichodactyla sp.), Sebae (Heteractis crispa), Bulb (Entacmaea quadricolor), or Ritteri (Heteractis magnifica) Anemones. Although the Mocha Storm Ocellaris Clownfish does not require an anemone to thrive, if you choose to include one, ensure that your aquarium and lighting system can support the needs of the host anemone before introducing it.
The Mocha Storm Ocellaris Clownfish is hardy and accustomed to conditions found in home aquariums, making it an excellent choice for both novice and experienced aquarists. It can be kept with other clownfish, provided they are introduced to the aquarium at the same time.
The Mocha Storm Ocellaris Clownfish can be bred in a home aquarium with relative ease and is often chosen as a "starter" fish for saltwater breeders. The female is typically the larger of the pair, and the two fish usually stay close to each other in the aquarium.
The Mocha Storm Ocellaris Clownfish is an egg layer and will generally deposit its eggs on a flat surface or near the base of the host anemone, defending them from other tank mates. The eggs usually hatch within 6 to 11 days, depending on the temperature. The fry should be raised in a separate aquarium and fed a diet of rotifers, transitioning to baby brine shrimp.
The Mocha Storm Ocellaris Clownfish is an omnivore and requires a diet that includes both meaty foods and some greens. It readily accepts high-quality marine flake food enriched with spirulina algae, as well as freeze-dried and frozen foods.
