Overview

Careful breeding of Bettas now enables home aquarists' access to a Purple Gold Betta option. With a body that displays in an iridescent gold and deep orange coloration, it contains purple undertones from which it inherits its name. If you are searching for a conversation starter in your home aquarium, this is it!

This Betta shares the same care requirements as other Betta splendens varieties. As such, only one male Betta should be kept in an aquarium. In their natural environment, Bettas live in heavily planted slow or standing bodies of water, such as floodplains, canals, and rice patties so do not require a large tank environment. Care should be taken not to house Bettas in jars or bowls even though their length at maturity is about 2.5”. They require an aquarium of 5 gallons or more. With an easy care level most hobbyists can achieve success keeping this beautiful species of freshwater fish.

Carnivores, the Purple Gold Betta requires a high protein diet, so it is important to feed them bloodworms, brine shrimp, and premium food that contains mostly fish.
