Overview
Live corals are important contributors to the structure of a saltwater reef in nature as well as in reef aquariums. Our Certified Captive Grown Coral CCGC Aquacultured Orange Polyp Montipora Coral (Montipora sp.) are grown by our dedicated Wisconsin staff at our own LiveAquaria® facility. We are committed to providing healthy and attractive alternatives to wild caught specimens, so as not to contribute to the world’s declining coral reefs.
Montipora sp corals are popular choices for aquariums because of the variety they offer. Not only do they come in many colors, but they also exhibit one of three different growth structures: branching, plating, or encrusting. The LiveAquaria® Aquacultured Orange Polyp Montipora Coral has an encrusting formation that is hard and bumpy in appearance and is olive green in color with orange polyps.
Hobbyists that use our LiveAquaria® Professional Reef Salt have the added benefit knowing marine species shipped from our Wisconsin Facility share the same water parameters. In other words, if you use our Professional Reef Salt, marine species shipped from our Wisconsin Facility will acclimate and transition to your home aquarium with less stress to set the foundation for longer term success.
The LiveAquaria® CCGC Aquacultured Orange Polyp Montipora Coral will satisfy the majority of its nutritional requirements by means of photosynthetic, symbiotic zooxanthellae algae hosted within its body. It will also benefit from occasional broadcast feeding in the form of micro-plankton or foods designed for SPS corals.
For continued good health, these corals will require the addition of supplemental calcium, strontium, and other trace elements to the water, with medium water flow and moderate lighting.
This SPS hard coral exhibits a peaceful temperament and will add interest to your reef aquarium. It comes mounted on a fired ceramic plug that can be placed easily and securely in or between the rockwork in the reef aquarium.
