The Blue & Green Colony Polyp Coral is an attractive color variety of Zoanthus Colony Polyp Coral (also known as Sea Mats, or Button Polyps). Zoanthus Colony Polyp Corals are available in a wide variety of colors, with prized varieties demonstrating uncommon beauty with bright, showy coloration. As colonial animals, the Blue & Green Colony Polyp Coral is made up of multiple individual polyps attached to a piece of live rock.

The Blue & Green Colony Polyp Coral is a handsome coral sporting a "cool" color palette of blue and green. Its colonial growing habit accentuates this effect, creating a rhythmic yet visually stimulating reef aquarium landscape. Over time, an established colony of the Blue & Green Colony Polyp Coral creates an impressive living carpet for a truly noteworthy display full of color and dynamic texture.

Similar to other Zoanthus Colony Polyp Corals, the Blue & Green Colony Polyp Coral is relatively easy to maintain, requires low to moderate water flow, and tolerates "less-than-ideal" water condition, making it a good choice for beginner reef aquarists. The Blue & Green Colony Polyp Coral requires moderate light levels achieved by T-5s, powerful LEDs or the more intense metal halides. For continued good health, the Blue & Green Colony Polyp Coral will also require the addition of iodine and other trace elements.

Under ideal conditions, the Blue & Green Colony Polyp Coral will multiple without difficulty in home reef aquariums by budding (splitting off a portion of their base or mouth) to increase the size of the colony. The photosynthetic symbiotic zooxanthellae algae hosted within the Blue & Green Colony Polyp Coral satisfies the majority of its nutritional requirements. However, under less-than-ideal lighting conditions, the Blue & Green Colony Polyp Coral will benefit from supplemental feedings in the form of micro-plankton or baby brine shrimp, or foods designed for filter feeding invertebrates.

The Blue & Green Colony Polyp Coral has the ability to sting other polyps or corals. While the sting is not strong, be sure to provide sufficient space between the Blue & Green Colony Polyp Coral and other corals because of its semi-aggressive temperament and potential to crowd out neighbors.

It is not uncommon to receive a rock that is not completely covered in polyps. However, under the right conditions, the Blue & Green Colony Polyp Coral will spread quickly, covering the rock as well as portion of surrounding rocks in the aquarium.
