Overview

The Bristletooth Tomini Tang, also known as the Tomini Surgeonfish is tan combined with yellow, blue, and white highlights as a juvenile. When mature, the body color solidifies, the tail becomes blue, and the dorsal and anal fins are tipped with a golden-yellow hue. The area above the eyes has small golden flecks while sporting a golden half circle beneath.

A 70 gallon or larger aquarium is necessary to provide plenty of swimming room. It is aggressive towards other Tangs, but peaceful with other fish.

Although Tangs will eat meaty foods along with the other fish in the aquarium, it is important that they are offered plenty of marine based seaweed and algae. This will strengthen their immune system, reduce aggression and improve their overall health. Offer dried seaweed tied to a rock or use a veggie clip, and feed at least 3 times per week. Sea Veggies, Seaweed Salad and Ocean Nutrition are all ideal products and are very easy to use.

This lovely fish arrived at about 1.25" in length. He acclimated with no problems at all and was eating off of an algae clip by day 4 that I observed. Shortly after that he started eating formula 2 with his tank mates. This fish also was pecking the live rock and glass from day 1. He is a very beautiful and healthy specimen. I'm so glad I chose this particular tang. His dorsal fin is almost always extended over 90% of the time, which in my opinion makes most fish look their best. The coloration on my fish is way more vivid than the example fish pictured. He arrived healthy and at no time has he ever showed any signs of disease or parasitic infection. I love this fish as much as my yellow tang I have now had for 4 years in another tank. Very highly recommended fish! Plus as an adult he will be able to live in a 75 gallon or larger tank. Thank You Liveaquaria!

My Tomini arrived in terrific shape and seemed to adapt to my tank easily. It grazes all day long on algae.
