Overview

The LiveAquaria® Coral Frag 3 Pack, Bubbly Edition (Various sp.), offers hobbyists a way to enhance their reef aquarium with a collection of premium coral frag specimens. Adding visual interest and beauty to your reef aquarium, they have a moderate care level and are semi-aggressive.

Included in this premium 3-pack are:

Bubble Coral Frag
The Bubble Coral (Plerogyra sinuosa) is a beautiful LPS coral that originates from the reefs of the Indo-Pacific. It has a green or white-ridged hard skeleton that can be seen when the polyps are deflated. When inflated, the large fleshy polyps will cover the entire skeleton, and are green, white, or yellowish in color. Their fleshy polyps are fragile and will puncture easily. Too much water flow may impede the coral from fully expanding. The frag should be placed in the bottom level of the home aquarium, with room between it and any other corals because they have sweeper tentacles that can harm other corals within reach.

Hammer Coral Frag
The Hammer Coral (Euphyllia ancora) is a Large Polyp Stony (LPS) coral that has hammer shaped tentacles. Its polyps are visible throughout the day and night and hide its skeletal base. It may be gold, green, tan, or brown in color, with lime green, yellow or pink tips on the ends of its tentacles. The Hammer Coral likes moderate lighting and medium waterflow. At night, its sweeper tentacles can extend up to six inches in the reef aquarium, so hobbyists should allow plenty of room between it and neighboring corals.

Fox Coral Frag
You will receive one of our Fox Coral (Pleurogyra turbida). (previously designated as Nemenzophyllia turbida) LPS coral frags. A unique looking coral, its calcareous skeleton is very fragile, and it lacks visible tentacles. For this reason, waterflow should be low. With polyps in shades of white to pale green, they are quite large and extend two to three times the width of its skeleton during the day.

This coral is an excellent choice for both beginning and seasoned aquarists. The frag should be placed at the bottom of your home aquarium where it will receive low to moderate lighting.

The ideal environment for these aquacultured coral frags is an established reef aquarium with coral friendly fish and invertebrates. Water temperatures should be maintained at 72°-78° F, pH levels of 8.1-8.4, a dKH level of between 8-12, and salinity within the range of 1.022-1.025. They require the addition of supplemental calcium, strontium, magnesium, iodine, and other trace elements to the water. Aquacultured corals reduce the impact of natural collection, and because they are grown in captivity, are accustomed to a home aquarium.

The symbiotic algae zooxanthellae hosted within the coral’s bodies provide the majority of their nutritional requirements from the algae's light driven process of photosynthesis but will benefit from the addition of foods designed for corals and invertebrates.
