Overview

What that means is that you can rest assured knowing this specimen received the highest level of care from our experienced and professional LiveAquaria® staff!

PLUS, hobbyists that use our LiveAquaria® Professional Reef Salt have the added benefit knowing marine species shipped from our LiveAquaria® Wisconsin Facility share the same water parameters. In other words, if you use our Professional Reef Salt, marine species shipped from our Wisconsin Facility will acclimate and transition to your home aquarium with less stress to set the foundation for longer term success.

LiveAquaria® is proud to present the Biota Captive-Bred Ring Eyed Goby as part of our increasing selection of captive bred, sustainably raised and cultured aquatic life available for hobbyists to stock their aquarium. Captive-bred Ring Eyed Gobies have a unique advantage over wild-harvested species. They are hardier and more accustomed to conditions found in home aquariums. Therefore, they make a great choice for novices and seasoned aquarists alike.

The Biota Captive-Bred Ring Eyed Goby is a gorgeous little goby sporting a vibrant fiery red coloration sure to inject fantastic visual interest to your nano aquarium setup. As its common name implies, the Biota Captive-Bred Ring Eyed Goby sports an endearing bespectacled countenance with slightly upturned eyes. In the wild, Ring Eyed Gobies inhabit costal and outer reef slopes, clinging to the roof of caves and ledges. As such, you shouldn’t be surprised to witness your Biota Captive-Bred Ring Eyed Goby in gravity-defying positions among your reef aquarium landscape or even on your aquarium glass. The natural distribution of the Ring Eyed Goby stretches across the Western Pacific Ocean ranging from Sulawesi to Tonga; north to the Marshall Islands; south to New Caledonia and into the Great Barrier Reef.

The ideal setup for the Biota Captive-Bred Ring Eyed Goby should be a well-established 10 gallon or larger aquarium aquascaped liberally with live rock and plenty of overhangs and hiding places. The Biota Captive-Bred Ring Eyed Goby is a peaceful fish that rarely demonstrates aggression towards other fish except, perhaps on occasion, those of its own genus. Multiple individuals can be kept in larger aquarium setups but be sure to house the Biota Captive-Bred Ring Eyed Goby with fish of peaceful temperament and avoid keeping with more aggressive fish.

The diet of the Biota Captive-Bred Ring Eyed Goby should consist of a variety of meaty foods and vegetable matter including mysis shrimp, other frozen meaty foods soaked in a vitamin supplement, phyto- and zooplankton foods, and flake foods. To best recreate natural feeding conditions, place the food in the outflow of a water pump or wavemaker so it actively disperses into the water column. The Biota Captive-Bred Ring Eyed Goby should be fed multiple small meals throughout the day.
